Seattle’s Green New Deal

To get involved with GND

350 Seattle and Got Green are launching a new campaign
for a transformative Green New Deal for Seattle —
Goal: to eliminate our city’s climate pollution by 2030,
address historical and current injustices, and
create thousands of good, green, well-paying  jobs.

What does a Green New Deal look like?
A) Affordable housing – Build-out of tens of thousands have units of affordable housing, without displacing existing communities

B) More transportation access, including ubiquitous and free electric transit for all Seattle neighborhoods and bus routes to connect every community

C) “Greening” current homes – Equitable transitioning of our cities hundred and 60,000 fossil fuel heated homes to Carbon free, electric heating

D)  Weatherization of our current housing
Reducing pollution and lowering her energy bills–

By our estimates*, Amazon’s shipping operations in 2017 alone spewed at least 19.1 million metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere—the emissions equivalent of 4.7 coal-fired power plants operating for one year.

Backbone Campaign amplifies the aspirations of “We the People” withcreative strategies and artful activism to manifest a world where life, community, nature, and our obligations to future generations are honored as sacred.

Activists who oppose Royal Dutch Shell’s plans to drill for oil in the Arctic Ocean prepare their kayaks for the “Paddle in Seattle” protest on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Seattle. The protesters gathered at a West Seattle park and then joined hundreds of others in Elliott Bay, next to the Port of Seattle Terminal 5, where Shell’s Polar Pioneer drilling rig is docked.
